Anadela Navarrete Gomez  was born in Oaxaca, Mexico and immigrated with her family to Tijuana and eventually City Heights, San Diego. She graduated with Departmental Honors from UCLA with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chicanx Studies. Prior to joining the TV Core team, Anadela completed an internship at the Brigham and Women's Hospital working in Dr. Jonathan Li's lab, where she investigated emerging mutations in Remdesivir treated patients with SARS-COV-2 infection. Being a first-generation college graduate and having lived in underserved communities in both sides of the border, she is passionate about serving marginalized communities. Outside of work she likes to stay involved in her community, by serving as a volunteer and mentor to first generation high school students and as a Spanish interpreter for the UCSD Student-Run Free Clinic. In her free time, she enjoys running and spending time with her family.
