The 2017 UC San Diego CFAR HIV Research Day was held on December 6 in the spectacular Great Hall of the International House on the UC San Diego campus. More than 100 persons from UC San Diego and local clinical and service organizations heard a dozen presentations on local, national, and international research to combat disparities in HIV prevention, treatment, and care.
Our keynote speaker was Nabila El-Bassel, PhD, who is the Willma and Albert Musher Professor of Social Work at Columbia University, Director of the Global Health Research Center of Central Asia, and Director of the Social Intervention Group (SIG). Dr. El-Bassel has designed and tested a number of multi-level HIV, intervention, and prevention models for women, men, and couples in different settings such drug treatment and harm reduction programs, primary care, and criminal justice settings.
We are grateful to the California HIV/AIDS Research Program (HD15-SD-059) and the UC San Diego HIV Institute (formerly the AIDS Research Institute) for financial support that allowed us to support our speakers' travel and hold our symposium in such a lovely venue.
A videographer and still photographer were on site throughout the day. Check this page again soon for links to photos and YouTube videos.
