By any measure, the CHRIS Meeting (CFAR HIV Research in International Settings) was a stunning success. Check out the terrific presenters and topics who made this meeting-of-the-CFARs such an informative event.

Scheduled on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, the CHRIS Meeting delivered on its promise to be a most exciting event. Nowhere else in San Diego could one visit 4 continents and 9 countries in a single day.

The San Diego CFAR International Core hosted this one-day inter-CFAR working meeting. Anyone interested in international HIV research was welcome to attend.

We were honored to have two extraordinary keynote speakers:

Dr. Eric Goosby, former U.S. Global AIDS Ambassador and at the time, Professor and Director of the UCSF Center for Implementation Sciences. Dr. Goosby spoke on, "The long road to sustainable programs: Lessons from PEPFAR and the global AIDS response."

Dr. Carlos del Rio, in 2014, Hubert Professor and Chair of the Department of Global Health at the Rollins School of Public Health, and Director of the Emory University Center for AIDS Research. Dr. del Rio spoke on, "The past, present, and future of global health engagement by academic institutions."

This informative one-day meeting was held Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at the spectacular Hilton San Diego Bayfront, just one day before this year's U.S. Conference on AIDS (October 2-5).

In addition to the general session, we were delighted to collaborate on biostatistics breakout sessions with an emphasis on HIV research, hosted by the Center for AIDS Research at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Program: The CHRIS meeting covered results of international HIV research supported by several NIH-funded Centers for AIDS Research, as well as suggestions on improving research operations in resource-limited settings. Feel free to check out the agenda.
