In the Spotlight

Our team at UC San Diego has been collaborating with researchers on the East Coast to document what may be the first known functional cure of HIV in a pediatric patient. If these promising results are confirmed, they will represent a major discovery in the effort to cure HIV, which currently infects 34 million persons. Preliminary results were announced at the 2013 Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections in Atlanta.
