The Molecular Biology Core (MBC) is one of the original CFAR service cores, in continuous operation since 1995. The MBC's principal objective is to support HIV research for CFAR member institutions and other organizations by providing specialized sequencing and sequence analysis (e.g., non-clinical extended genotyping), quantitative and qualitative PCR for viruses and viral vectors, vector design and construction, molecular biology software support, and access to a local library of useful HIV-related reagents.
